CHUSS gets new Bursar

The outgoing Bursar of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), Mr. Ronald Ssambwa has handed over to the incoming Bursar, Mr. Elwana Tom Vok.

Looking on are Dr Ahikire (2nd R), Dr Mangeni (R), Mr Magara (L) and Mr. LumuThe handover ceremony held in the Office of the Principal this morning, 22nd July 2019 was witnessed by the Acting Principal, Dr Josephine Ahikire, the Dean School of Liberal and Performing Arts, Dr Patrick Mangeni, Mr. Bennet Magara from Internal Audit and Mr. Lumu Wilson, an accountant who was also transferred to CHUSS.

Mr. Elwana has been Bursar, College of Computing and Information Sciences. He was transferred to CHUSS effective 1st June 2019. Mr. Ssambwa was transferred to the College of Education and External Studies.

During the handover ceremony, Mr. Ssambwa appreciated all staff and students for the cordial working relationship since he joined CHUSS in 2014. “It has been great experience working with everyone in CHUSS. I take this opportunity to appreciate the previous and current College Management for all the support accorded to me. Value has been added to my career and I will forever remain grateful,” he said.

In his handover report, Mr. Ssambwa presented the financial status of the College highlighting a number of issues that should be streamlined. These include payments for part-timers, contract staff, external examiners and suppliers as well as evening teaching claims. He also pointed out the need to create more space for the Finance Department and to follow-up on the College budget for this financial year.

In his remarks, the new Bursar emphasized the need to streamline payments and recruit more staff for the Unit.

The Acting Principal, Dr Josephine Ahikire welcomed the new Bursar to the CHUSS family and thanked Mr. Sambwa for steering well the College finance Department for the last five years.
