CHUSS Principal sponsors 300 students for MakRun

The Principal of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), Prof. Edward K. Kirumira, has sponsored 300 students to participate in the The Principal after handing over the tickets to the College PresidentMakRun scheduled to take place on 14thMay, 2017. The Principal handed over tickets worth UGX3 million to students this afternoon in the Faculty of Arts Quadrangle.  

Addressing the overjoyed students, the Principal said the contribution would support the construction of Students’ Centre.   “By giving out these tickets, I am encouraging you to participate in this fundraising cause which is geared towards an important development at Makerere University. I hope that all of you will actively participate in the run and the subsequent drives aimed at raising funds for the construction of the centre,” he said.

Through their President, Mr. Mijad Bagoole, the students expressed gratitude to the Principal and pledged to support and promote the initiative.

 The MakRun is organised by the Makerere University Endowment Fund (MakEF) – an entity of Makerere University established in 2014 and mandated to achieve her long term financial sustainability efforts.

The Run is aimed at supporting the Fund’s inaugural project “Students Centre” that will be the meeting point for students. The estimated cost is UGX15 billion. The Students Centre is aimed at enhancing the quality of student life and experience.

The run will take place on 14th May, 2017 and will be flagged off by the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga, at 7:00am in the Freedom Square.

Tickets for the run cost UGX10,000 for students and UGX25,000 and 50,000 for alumni and well wishers. They are sold at several centres including the Planning and Development Department, the University Printery, Makerere University Guest House, the 10 Colleges of Makerere University and at Parliament.
