I am Dr. Solomon Winyi, a Lecturer and Coordinator of Graduate Programmes in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, School of Social Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Makerere University. I hold a PhD in Political Science from Makerere University and a Master of Arts in International Studies from Seoul National University, South Korea.
My teaching and research interests focus on political participation, governance, democracy, political communication, and the intersection of digital technologies and political processes, with particular emphasis on youth political engagement in Africa. My doctoral research examined social media use and youth political participation in Uganda, exploring how digital platforms influence political mobilisation, civic engagement, and democratic processes.
I have published scholarly research on social media regulation, student politics, and digital political participation in Uganda. My recent work also examines the emerging role of artificial intelligence in political communication and electoral engagement. Through teaching, research, graduate supervision, and public scholarship, I seek to advance understanding of contemporary political dynamics and the evolving relationship between technology, governance, and democratic participation in Africa.
