Dr Kasujja holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and serves as Head of the Department of Mental Health & Community Psychology at Makerere University. As a distinguished scholar and former President of the Uganda Clinical Psychology Association, he has played a leading role in advancing mental health research and training in Uganda.
His research focuses on culturally adapted psychological interventions, clinical supervision, and psychosocial care in low‑resource settings. Notable publications include co-authorship of a qualitative study on clinical supervision for psychology students in Uganda (International Journal of Mental Health Systems, 2015) and recent work on culturally tailored mental health interventions with refugee and HIV‑affected populations.
In his capacity as internal examiner and supervisor at Makerere, Dr Kasujja has guided and evaluated doctoral candidates. For instance, he co-supervised Khamisi Musanje’s PhD defense in November 2024 on a mindfulness‑based intervention for adolescents on antiretroviral therapy in Kampala, demonstrating his commitment to both scientific rigor and clinical relevance.
Beyond academia, Dr Kasujja engages with broader mental health policy and advocacy. As Director of Mental Health at Makerere’s School of Psychology, he has spoken internationally about Uganda’s refugee mental health challenges—critiquing dependency on humanitarian aid and urging sustainable, community‑based psychosocial support efforts.
