Makoboza Paul is an academic and researcher, currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Makerere University. He holds an M.Phil. in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Oslo, Norway, where his research focused on sexual violence in higher institutions. Paul also earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Sciences from Makerere University, with his undergraduate thesis examining fraud and deviance in break-away churches. Since beginning his academic career at Makerere University in 2011, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to student mentorship and supervision.
Beyond his teaching duties, Paul has played a significant role in academic administration and curriculum development, notably as a member of the Departmental Curriculum Review Committee. His research experience is extensive research, involving leadership and support roles on projects related to HIV treatment, Ebola response, and family planning, in collaboration with organizations such as UNICEF, FHI-360, USAID, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative. He has published peer-reviewed work and participated in notable academic conferences. Paul’s dedication to social justice and human rights underpins his ongoing contributions to research, teaching, and academic leadership in Uganda.
