Nelson Bahati is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University. He earned a Master’s degree in Media Development from Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway in june, 2024 and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University in May, 2021.
His professional experience spans roles in nonprofit organizations, where he has served as a consultant and communication associate, applying strategic communication approaches to support organizational goals and provide advisory services on strategic communication.
His research interests lie at the intersection of digital media and society, with a focus on the power and influence of digital platforms on culture, digital political communication in hybrid regimes, fact-checking, and the integration of artificial intelligence in journalism, particularly from Global South perspectives. He also has an interest in climate change communication.
He teaches a range of courses in journalism and communication, including public relations, media culture and society, public relations strategies and tactics, introduction to communication, and introduction to journalism.
