Christopher Muhoozi is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of History, Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Makerere University. He is a trained historian with extensive teaching experience in African, Latin American, and Caribbean history, as well as historiography and theory. At Makerere University, he teaches undergraduate courses covering pre-colonial and post-colonial African history, emergent African states, and the theory and practice of history, contributing to the department’s mission of rigorous historical scholarship and training.
His research interests focus on the early and contemporary history of south-western Uganda—particularly Nkore, Ankole, and Mpororo—and the wider interlacustrine region. He has a strong scholarly interest in intellectual history, racial thought, ethnogenesis, health and healing, and the colonial and post-colonial history of public health. Beyond teaching and research, Christopher Muhoozi is actively engaged in academic and professional service. He is a member of the Uganda Society, serves on the Executive Committee of the Uganda Studies Group, and is the Coordinator of Scholar Affiliations in the Department of History, Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Makerere University.
