Prof. Byaruhanga Archangel Rukooko is a distinguished academic and Professor of Philosophy and Human Rights at Makerere University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences in Kampala, Uganda. With academic qualifications including a BA (Hons) and PhD from Makerere University and an MA from the University of Nairobi, he has built a career rooted in ethical theory, human rights, and social justice. Over many years of service at Makerere University, Prof. Rukooko has taught, supervised, and mentored students across philosophical disciplines while consistently contributing to academic life and intellectual discourse.
His scholarly work spans human rights, ethics in politics, social protection, and the philosophical foundations of justice. Prof. Rukooko has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles that explore moral integrity in politics, the rights of vulnerable populations, and the ethical underpinnings of social policy in Uganda and beyond. Through research, publications, and active participation in academic networks, he has made meaningful contributions to philosophical scholarship and human rights debates in Africa.
