Biography

Dr. Imokola John Baptist is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University. With a solid foundation in both theory and practice, he earned his Bachelor’s (Hons) and Master’s degrees in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University.

Dr. Imokola is a seasoned media professional, having risen from news reporter to news anchor, editor, producer, and eventual head of newsroom operations across major Ugandan broadcasters—including Uganda Television (UBC), Record TV Network, WBS Television, NBS Television, and as News Editor at Uganda Radio Network.

He is also well-versed in television production—covering scripting, camera operations, video/audio editing, control room workflow, online and live broadcasting, and media management. Since 2012, Dr. Imokola has served on the faculty at Makerere University, and his teaching career extends back to 2008, including roles at the International Institute of Business and Media Studies, Nkumba University, and Muteesa I Royal University.

His research interests include media law, policy and regulation; media history and culture; media literacy; broadcast journalism; ICTs and journalism—areas in which he actively contributes to academic discourse.
