Biography

Dr. Richard Balikoowa is a rising career educationist, specializing in education and school psychology. With a distinguished career in education, psychology, educational technology and research, Dr. Balikoowa has significantly contributed to research and understanding of community, educational and child-related psychosocial issues in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Uganda. His work emphasizes supporting the training of educational, violence, school and gender psychology experts; as well as provision of consultation to families and school personnel on issues related to mental health, learning, and behavior. Known for his expertise and compassionate approach, Dr. Balikoowa collaborates with media, public health and education experts, multidisciplinary researchers; among other organizations and government to develop effective strategies for promoting preventive measures needed for positive psychological and mental health living of all categories of people. He has engaged the national and international media space and given wellbeing and resilience lectures to students and staff from primary, secondary and higher institutions of learning; as well as trauma-informed models to Police and other military personnel in Uganda. He has attended and presented papers at national and international conferences and related fora.
