Dr. Sara Namusoga-Kaale is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University, where she teaches and conducts research in communication sciences with a strong focus on digital and multimedia journalism. Her scholarly work spans areas such as media representation, migration, minority coverage, and content analysis, reflecting a sustained interest in how media narratives shape public understanding of complex social and political issues in Africa and beyond. She has contributed to research on topics including media framing of controversial issues, science communication, and the role of journalism in development contexts, positioning her as an emerging voice in African media scholarship.
Dr. Namusoga-Kaale holds a PhD in Cultural and Media Studies, along with a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. She has also been recognized internationally, including as a Humboldt Research Fellow, through which she has engaged in collaborative research on media and African migration in Europe. Her academic and professional trajectory reflects a blend of teaching, research, and practical media experience, including work in journalism and parliamentary communication. Through her teaching and publications, she continues to contribute to the advancement of journalism education and critical media studies in Uganda and internationally.
