Biography

Dr. Simon Masiga is a lecturer in the Department of Religion and Peace Studies at Makerere University’s School of Liberal and Performing Arts. His doctoral research, successfully defended in November 2024, examines the perceptions of disability-drawing upon 2 Samuel 9 and the socio-cultural views of the Bamasaaba people in Eastern Uganda-to explore how religious and cultural narratives influence inclusion and social attitudes.

He has a background in theological training, holding a Bachelor of Divinity and earlier studies in Biblical Studies. Prior to joining Makerere University, he worked in teaching and in child-advocacy roles, including with Compassion International. His research interests include contextual biblical hermeneutics, religion and disability, religious ethics, and inter-religious dialogue.
