Biography

Yasmin Katushabe is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University and a PhD candidate in Strategic Communication at the University of South Africa. She holds a Master’s degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Leeds, which grounds her strong academic and practical orientation to communication strategy.

Her doctoral research focuses on social media as a participatory communication tool in Uganda’s oil and gas sector, with particular interest in how digital platforms can foster dialogue, stakeholder engagement, and trust between organizations and communities. More broadly, her research interests span strategic communication, reputation management, crisis communication, corporate communication, and the evolving role of digital media in shaping public discourse.

Beyond academia, Yasmin is actively engaged in industry as a communications strategist and entrepreneur. She is currently involved in teaching, research, and curriculum development at Makerere University, while also leading and managing ventures in education and the creative industry. Her work reflects a strong commitment to bridging theory and practice, particularly in understanding how organizations can build and sustain trust in complex, high-stakes environments.
