It continues to attract significant national and international funding of over USD 12 million in total supporting diverse research, academic, and community initiatives. Key Grants and Projects include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>European Commission \u2013 Communicating Migration and Mobility: \u20ac799,974 (Makerere share: \u20ac123,459 \/ USD 130,620) to support e-learning programs and newsroom applications on migration and mobility in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Humanitarian Development Peace Nexus (EXPAND): NOK 1,300,000 funds research on humanitarian development and peacebuilding in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Makerere University Press RIF Project: Funded under RIF FY2024\/2025, supports revitalization of academic publishing at Makerere University Press.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UKRI \u2013 INIFIRES: \u00a3430,000 to address intimate partner violence among young people in Uganda in collaboration with Teesside University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhancing Linguistic Scholarship in Eastern Africa (ELSEA): Supported under UNA-EUROPA, enhances linguistic research and academic exchange in Eastern Africa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Returned Objects Research \u2013 University of Cambridge Artifacts: conducts research on 39 cultural artifacts returned to Uganda under the Museums and Monuments Act 2023.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master of Humanitarian Action Program (EU Funded): \u20ac3,456,000 consortium grant integrating social work and development studies across seven universities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rotary Peace Center Renewal (2024\u20132027): USD 1,342,000 to strengthen peacebuilding research, training, and curriculum development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volkswagen Foundation \u2013 Summer Schools: \u20ac198,000 funds summer schools on humanities for societal transformation in Africa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Endangered Language Documentation Fund \u2013 Batwa Heritage: \u20ac206,000 supports preservation of Batwa language and cultural heritage in Semuliki Forest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gerda Henkel Foundation PhD Scholarships: \u20ac375,000 provides 10 PhD scholarships in Historical Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>US Department of State \u2013 Great Lakes Centre for US Studies: USD 125,000 establishes a research center on US studies in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MakRIF \u2013 Enhancing Linguistic Scholarship: Funded under Makerere RIF FY2024\/2025, supports linguistic research and teaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MakRIF \u2013 Makerere University Press Support: Funded under Makerere RIF FY2024\/2025, strengthens the university\u2019s academic publishing capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender Equality Project \u2013 DGF:\u00a0 promotes gender inclusivity and equality in academic and institutional settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interdisciplinary PhD Program \u2013 Gerda Henkel Foundation: \u20ac2.4 million enhances cohort-based PhD training in Historical Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mastercard Foundation \u2013 In Search of Green Jobs (2023\u20132025): studies youth employment aspirations and challenges in collaboration with Cambridge and Restless Development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mastercard Foundation \u2013 The Imprint of Education (TIE 2019\u20132024): conducts longitudinal research on African alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research England \u2013 HEIF: \u00a33,000 seed grant supports adaptation of workplace-based mental health promotion programs in Uganda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WUN Research Development Fund \u2013 Ethical AI Projects: Two grants of \u00a310,000 each for debiasing AI using culturally diverse datasets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Africhild Child-Focused Seed Fund: UGX 20,000,000 funds child-centered research initiatives in Uganda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Summer School on Wealth and Inequality $15,000\u00a0 explores wealth disparities with participants from East Africa and the Global North.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terrance Higgins HIV Research Trust Fund: GBP 10,000 provides specialized HIV research training at New York University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Masters &amp; Diploma in Security Strategy: trains military officers in regional security strategy in partnership with the National Defence College, Kimaka.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MakRIF projects: \u2013 Mainstreaming Kiswahili: promotes Kiswahili as a tool for sustainable development; Transforming Ugandan Folktales into Digital Animations: digitally preserves Uganda\u2019s folktales for educational and cultural use; Promoting National Symbols and Values: encourages patriotism through education on national symbols and values and Enhancing School Retention: improves school retention through community social labs and problem-based fieldwork.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French Embassy \u2013 PEP and CALUFU Grant: trains secondary school French teachers and integrates active learning methods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RIF Project:\u00a0 &#8220;Governing the Parish Development Model for Transformative Inclusivity:\u00a0<em>Lessons from Kibuku, Rubanda and Gulu Districts, Uganda<\/em>.&#8221; PI:\u00a0 Assoc.
