Police-Civil Society Dialogue: Tuesday, 9th December, 2014

John Paul II Justice and Peace Centre (JPIIJPC) in collaboration with the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the Uganda Police Force (UPF) have organized a one-day Police-Civil Society dialogue on Tuesday, 9th December, 2014 in Senate Upper Conference Hall. The Police-Civil Society dialogue is one JPIIJPC and partners’ activities aimed at strengthening collaborative partnership between the Police and Civil Society in ensuring security, justice and peace in the country.

The dialogue will include: 50 participants, 6 panelists, and three discussants from the UPF and Civil Society. The topics to be discussed include: Citizen’s Oversight of the Police, Enforcement of Law and Order, Democratic Policing, Community Policing, Police Public Accountability and Public Responsibility in Ensuring Law and Order.

Objectives of the dialogue are: To take stock of security concerns and challenges faced by police in promoting peace; provide a forum for police officers, civil society and academicians to discuss human rights issues pertaining to law and order; and develop strategies for collaboration between police and civil society in ensuring law and order.
