Trauma Management Workshop

The Dean, School of Psychology, Prof. Peter Baguma, cordially invites all of you to a trauma management workshop

The Founder and Director of Cameras without Borders, Dr Eberhard Riedel, will present a paper on psychological trauma management theory and practice based on fieldwork and research in Eastern DRC, Northern Uganda, South Sudan and Western Kenya. In these regions, many areas are plagued by trauma epidemics caused by violence that human beings inflict on each other. Individual, family, group and community trauma will be discussed.

*Dr Eberhard Riedel’s biography

Dr Eberhard Riedel is a photographer, psychotherapist and teacher living in Seattle, Washington. He graduated in documentary and fine arts photography from the Photographic Center Northwest, earned a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Washington, a Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Technische Universität in Munich, Germany. He is a Jungian Psychoanalyst.

He initiated Cameras without Borders- "Photography for Healing and Peace" in 2006 and now works with African communities affected by the consequences of war and violence, employing photography as a tool for healing. His project aims at engaging people at home and abroad as it seeks to nourish the seeds of reconciliation and mutual understanding. He publishes and presents nationally and internationally.
