Helina Befekadu Bekele
Helina Befekadu Bekele is from Ethiopia and is currently based in the School of Women and Gender Studies Makerere University, Uganda. Her research topic is “The Synergy of Good Governance in Agriculture policy and Agriculture policy network for women Economic Empowerment.”

Stella Antiwiwaa
Stella Antiwiwaa is a Ghanaian and an Assistant Lecturer affiliated to the Department of Classics and Philosophy, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She majored in Classics and Philosophy for her BA degree and holds an MPhil in Classics from the University of Cape Coast. Her current PhD topic in the Department of Literature Makerere University is “Depiction of Women in Selected Works of Euripides and some Ghanaian Playwrights”

Namukasa Jacqueline
Namukasa Jacqueline is a PhD candidate supported by Gerda Henkel Stiftung, foundation, tenable at Makerere University, History Department. Her research focuses on Colonialism, Globalization and their ramifications on inter-state relations, lessons from Migingo Island 1926 – 2009. She has BA Education and MA in History from the Islamic university in Uganda (I.U.I.U). Before undertaking her doctoral studies, she worked as lecturer at Kumi University, Tropix-study Centre and as a Teacher in Gogonyo Sec School.

Ngonela Samuel Auchi
Ngonela Samuel Auchi is currently an Interdisciplinary PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Makerere University. Mr Ngonela has worked as a research Assistant/ Part time Lecturer at Egerton University-Kenya. He also worked at NPI-Africa in the Great Lakes Region, Centre for Internal Displacement in Nakuru. His areas of interest are Governance, Peace Building, Conflict Management and Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution, International Political Economics and Diplomacy. He holds a B.A and M.A in Social Sciences from Makerere University 2009 and Egerton University 2017 respectively. His PhD topic is: Social Interventions and Peace Building in Urban Displacement: Relevance and Prospects-Nairobi, Kenya.

Aturinde Tumwerinde Emmanuel
Aturinde Tumwerinde Emmanuel is based in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Makerere University researching on the topic: “Towards a Re-Gendered Military: A Historico-Sociological Analysis of Anti-Terror Peace Operations in Somalia. He holds a Master of Arts in Development and Governance from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany and Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Political Science from Makerere University. He has previously worked as a Lecturer at Uganda Christian University and also received Lecturer Assistantship in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Makerere University. He has held positions as a Senior Research Officer with the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the Ministry of Works and Transport handling of Parliamentary Affairs. He is the Publicity Secretary of the Uganda Sociological and Anthropological Association and a Member of the International Sociological Association (ISA) Research Committees 1&26 on Armed Forces and Conflict Resolution and Sociotechnics and Sociological Practice respectively and the Association of Uganda Germany Alumni (AUGA. He is the Founder and Director of Hunger Fighters Uganda, a Deputy Director General of the Centre for Strategic and International Insights (CSII), and fellow of the East African Uongozi Institute. His research interests are in Humanitarianism, Gendered Peace Operations, Civil-Military Networks and Human Security, and Public policy.

Ssemulende Robert
Ssemulende Robert holds a Master of Archaeology from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a PhD student supported by the Gerda-Henkel Stiftung Foundation. His research focuses on the Sangoan techno-complex in order to establish if it is Acheulean or Middle Stone Age at the type site Sango Bay.

Akampurira Patience
Akampurira Patience holds a Master’s degree in History from Makerere University and Bachelor of Art co-current with a diploma in Education from Uganda Christian University. Patience has taught History and Political science since 2002 in various University in and outside Uganda. She has done consultancy and research for many organizations in the area of education. Patience’s research interests are in the areas of Governance, political history and Community Development. She is currently based in the Department of History Archelogy and Heritage Studies researching the topic: “Historicizing the Politics of Restoration or No restoration of Kingdoms in Uganda 1967-2010,” for her PhD.

Nyanjom Zakaria Ligaye
Nyanjom Zakaria Ligaye is a Kenyan teacher of Literature in English who has a Masters in Literature from Kenyatta University. He is currently based in the Department of Literature, Makerere University researching the topic: “Fiction as Historical Evidence: MAU MAU Atrocities in Selected Prose Diction.”

Cheromoi Clare
Cheromoi Clare is a lecturer and researcher at Uganda Christian University, Mukono. She holds Masters of Arts in Human Right Development and Social Justice from Erasmus University, International Institute of Social Studies, Hague in Netherlands. She also has Recently Masters of Arts in Anti-Corruption Studies from International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), Laxenburg, Austria. Her research focuses on problems undermining the development of poor economies, with a particular interest on social justice, governance, inequality and corruption. She is a PhD fellow under the CHUSS-Gerda-Henkel PhD Programme. Proposed topic of your study: “Corruption in the post-independent Uganda: A Historical Perspective.”

Gloria Longba’am
Gloria Longba’am a B.A Hons in History (2000-2003) and an M.A History (2012) from the University Jos Nigeria. She is a Lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, University of Jos. Her research interests include Intra and Inter- Group Relations in Post-Colonial Central Nigeria, Civil Society and Gender Studies. Her proposed topic of study is: “Conflict Management: State, society response to insecurity in Nigeria's Middle-Belt since 1979.”
