Prof Charles Okumu

Charles Okumu is an Assoc Prof of Literary and Cultural Studies in the Department of Language and Literature at Gulu University. He was Dean, Faculty of Education and Humanities. Charles’s teaching areas of focus include African Literature, American Literature and Epic poetry. Prof Okumu’s research areas focus on African Literatures and culture. He is specifically interested in Okot p’Bitek and his writing. He has been an editorial board member of Imbizo, works as a free lance journalist and is a Team Leader on the Acoli Language Orthography. He is currently Principal Investigator on the Building Stronger Universities Project.
