Cambridge-Africa Partnership

Makerere University together with the University of Ghana Legon (Ghana) and  the University of Cambridge (UK) are collaborating in a three-some three-year partnership the 'Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research Excellence - CAPREx 2012-2015') funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Isaac Newton Trust. The purpose of the CAPREx programme is to strengthen academic research and research management capacity in the African partner universities through the provision of fellowships. African Research Fellows are invited to embark on a collaborative research project with a researcher from the University of Cambridge who has mutual research interests, and the research will usually take place in Cambridge. This is a competitive scheme and a total of 8 postdoc research fellowships were awarded in the first call in May 2013 to Makerere academic staff.

A second call is now placed for academic staff from the humanities and Social sciences (this includes academic staff from Law, Education and Business) to compete for the remaining 12 postdoc fellowships. Academic staff who completed their PhDs up to 20 years ago are eligible.
