Dr Gilbert Gumoshabe, Lecturer, School of Languages, Literature and Communication received the Local Uganda Language Dictionary Writers/Publishers Medal. Dr Gumoshabe, Dr Muranga and Mrs Alice Muhoozi co-authored the first thesaurus of Runyankore-Rukiga Language/Katondoozi y'Orunyankore–Rukiga with President Museveni. The 22,000-word thesaurus was published last
year. The book was written to document the language’s rich vocabulary as well as act as a springboard for a greater understanding of the Bantu languages of the region.
The Director, Makerere Institute of Social Research, Prof. Mahmood Mamdani, was recognized for his tremendous contribution to the education sector.
