On 29th January, 2018, the Management team of the College of Human Sciences, University of South Africa (UNISA) visited Makerere University on a 
mission to establish collaboration with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS).
The team led by the Executive Director, Prof. Andrew Phillips, comprised of heads of Units of the College namely; Prof. Puleng Segalo, Head of Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Britta Zawada, Deputy Executive Dean; Prof. Linda Cornwell, Director, School of Social Sciences; Prof. Rothney Stok Tshaka, Acting Director, School of Humanities; Prof. Michael Kgomotso Masemola, Quality Assurance Champion; Prof. Mabel Majanja, Director, School of Arts; Prof. Mokhele Pule Johannes Singleton Madise, Manager, Graduate Studies; and Prof. Zethu Nkosi, Manager, Community Engagement and Learner Support.
During the visit, the team held several meetings with the leadership of CHUSS in which they shared experiences on various issues and agreed in principle to collaborate in areas of teaching and learning, research and innovation. They specifically agreed to collaborate in the areas of curriculum 
review, research and publication, staff development, external examination, supervision, women and gender studies, languages and literature studies, digitization, resource mobilization and decolonization of African Universities.
The UNISA team also held discussions with the Director of Quality Assurance, Dr Vincent Sembatya, to learn about the operations of the Directorate.
Discussions on the modalities for collaboration are ongoing among the sister units of the two colleges.
