Hayoko Joyce is a seasoned accountant with extensive experience in financial management and administrative roles in higher education institutions. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Makerere University, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) and a Uganda Diploma in Business Studies (UDBS), both from Makerere University. Her career spans over two decades, during which she has developed a deep expertise in managing financial transactions, preparing reports, budgeting, and handling reconciliations.
Currently, Hayoko serves as an Accountant at Makerere University’s School of Women and Gender Studies, where she oversees the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and managing financial decisions for the school and related projects. She is well-versed in project financial planning, having worked in various departments at Makerere University, including Finance, Grants and Projects Office, and the Academic Registrar’s Department.
Throughout her career, Hayoko has played a key role in managing the university’s financial functions, including handling staff wages and salaries, coordinating audits, and ensuring financial compliance with university and donor requirements. Her background includes working in several capacities, from clerical roles to senior-level accounting functions, which has given her a solid foundation in both operational and strategic financial management.
Hayoko is committed to improving financial systems and ensuring transparency and accountability in financial processes. She is passionate about community engagement and corporate social responsibility, and outside of work, she enjoys traveling, listening to gospel music, and reading novels. Fluent in English, Luganda, and Kiswahili, Hayoko is a skilled communicator with a proven ability to work under minimal supervision and contribute effectively to team success.
