French Embassy signs MoU with Mak to promote the teaching of French in Uganda

Brief:

In the bid to promote and improve the quality of the French language in Uganda, the French Embassy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the teaching and learning of the language in four Higher Education Institutions in the country.  Under the MoU, the French Embassy will in the next three years support capacity development in four Public Universities namely; Makerere University, Makerere University Business School, Kyambogo University and Kabale University. Areas of support will include scholarships and scholastic materials worth about 50,000 Euros.

Besides the support in terms of scholarships and scholastic materials, the French Government has supported Makerere University in several other ways. In 2018, the French Government through its Embassy in Uganda opened up a Campus France Antenna at Makerere University to help Ugandan students gain access to information and guidance on education and business projects in France. The Campus France offices are a one stop centre for students to access information and resources on scholarships and other study opportunities in France. Campus France is the French National Agency that promotes international mobility and French Higher Education.
