Brief Profile: 

Irene Esther Mutuzo is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational, Social, and Organizational Psychology, School of Psychology at Makerere University, Uganda, and a Ph.D. Fellow conducting research on Usability Context and Adoption of Human Capital Management Systems in Ugandan Public Universities. With a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology, her academic work focuses on bridging the gap between technology, psychology, human behavior and ergonomics to enhance the adoption and usability of ICT systems in Africa. 

Drawing from her experience in academia and previous employment in ICT organizations, Irene is keen on exploring the cultural, environmental, and psychological factors that influence digital adoption. Passionate about preparing graduates for a technology-driven future, she aims to equip institutions and her students with strategies for sustainable digital transformation. Her research contributes to advancing human resources management practices, e-governance and overall technology adoption, fostering innovation, and development of inclusive digital solutions tailored to the African context.

Irene’s research interests lie at the intersection of technology and psychology, focusing on the factors that influence the adoption of ICT; exploring how cultural, environmental, and psychological factors influence technology adoption and leveraging this
