
Kasaija Phillip Apuuli is a Professor of Politics in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Makerere University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) and Master of Law (LLM) degrees in International Law, University of Sussex (United Kingdom); and BA (Hons) in International Relations (Makerere University Kampala).
He was a:
- 2010 British Academy Visiting Scholar at African Studies Centre, University of Oxford.
- 2016 Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Stetson School of Law (Gulfport), Florida, USA.
- Winner of the 2009 Mary Kingsley Lecture prize of the Royal African Society (RAS) and African Studies Association of the United Kingdom (ASAUK).
He has authored many articles in referred journals and book chapters on the ICC and Northern Uganda; East African Political Integration; Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa regions of Africa; and Uganda’s military. Prof. Apuuli is a consultant for the government of Uganda, and has also carried out a number of assignments in the areas of peace and security, and African integration for a number of organizations including DFID (UK), GIZ (Germany), Enough Project (USA), Africa Peace Forum (Kenya) and The University for Peace (Ethiopia).
He is a Visiting Professor at several military institutions namely: Uganda Military Academy-Kabamba (UMIK); UPDF Senior Command and Staff College- Kimaka, Jinja; Rwanda Defense Forces Command and Staff College-Musanze; and Uganda National Defense College-Njeru, Jinja.
